Purchasing large dog bed to add extra comfort for your pet

Dog beds should be purchased according to the size of your dog as every dog prefers a sense of comfort while resting on their bed. In order to purchase a right size bed for your dog, you need to measure the size of your dog appropriately. This is because, any differences created between the bed and the dog’s size, can create an uncomfortable position for your dog with their legs hanging off the bed. It is also essential to monitor the sleeping position of your pet as some dogs prefer to sleep in a curled up position while some like to lie down on their side with their legs completely stretched out and some prefer to lie on their belly with their legs stretched in front. Therefore, you will need to measure your dog in their favorite sleeping position and add extra four to five inches for comfort and easiness.

A rectangular shape bed is the most popular choice for large dogs as almost all the large dogs prefer to sleep in a stretched position. A less expensive alternative to rectangular size bed is large rectangle dog mats which are cushioned and can be quite comfortable for your pets. Apart from these mats there are also round bumper beds available that are available in large sizes. These beds are preferable if your dog likes to curl up in a ball when they are sleeping as the sides of the bed can give your pet a sense of security. A newer type of large dog bed is an elevated bed that have different constructions and design such as miniature couches or suspended hammock beds.

Dogs that sleep on floor or ground are more susceptible to flea infections as well as sickness contributed to cold drafts. Whether your pets sleep indoors or outdoors raised dog beds can help eliminate both these problems. A raised dog bed is a king of large dog bed that consists of a mattress of cushion which remains elevated from the floor on four legs. These beds typically have water proof cushions that can resist mold and mildew. A raised dog bed prevents your dog from sleeping in dirt or wallowing in odor that has accumulated over the past several months. Another reason that makes many of the dog owners opt for such kinds of bed is to eliminate whining and discomfort. When your dog is comfortable, they will not whine further suggests better sleep for your pet as well as the owner.
